Ron Willoughby has been serving as executive director/CEO since 1987. He began his ministry by establishing our residential rehabilitation program called “Men’s New Life Program” and soon after he implemented our street outreach program called “Operation Sonshine”. Over the next decade Ron oversaw the implementation of many vital parts of the Springfield Rescue Mission ministries: 1989 – Clothing and Give-away Center, 1990 - Prison Ministry and Detox Bible Study, 1995 - Learning Center, 1997 Emergency Shelter, 2002 Transitional Living Program. Ron was recently elected president of the Northeast Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM) where he serves 24 Rescue Missions. He has been on numerous AGRM committees as well as the Springfield Mayor’s Homeless Task Committee.
Ron 's wife Cathie is an active and vital volunteer at the Mission. Ron and his wife have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. When not at the Mission, Ron enjoys visiting the family farm in NY, tending honey bees and being with his family.
The goal of the Springfield Rescue Mission since 1892 has been to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hungry, homeless, addicted, and poor by introducing them to Christ and helping them apply the Word of God to every area of their lives. The Springfield Rescue Mission is a non-profit, Christian based Emergency Shelter and Rehabilitation Program providing food, clothing and shelter. No person is denied services based on race, creed, gender, or nationality.
