148 Taylor Street, Springfield MA 01105

148_TaylorStreet148 Taylor Street provides an emergency shelter and transitional housing program for homeless men.

The facility at 148 Taylor Street (formerly a city fire house) accommodates up to 40 men each night in the Emergency Shelter Program on the first floor and an additional 17 men in the Transitional Living Program on the second floor. The purpose of the Emergency Shelter Program is to meet basic physical needs of the homeless while offering emotional support, encouragement and an opportunity to change their circumstances. Many of the men residing in SRM’s emergency shelter have never been homeless before and are homeless due to job layoffs and/or home foreclosures. The men in the Transitional Living Program receive free housing in a supervised environment, along with case management and assistance with education, job-training, career-planning and job placement.
