Back to School Program 2011

Friends of the Homeless Back to School ProgramOur Back to School Drive usually begins June 1st but we put it on hold due to emergency response to the tornado disaster.

In late July, we put out the request for backpacks and school supplies in order to meet our school sponsor commitment of 250 backpacks.  It is amazing what God can do through people who care so deeply!

On August 23rd, we went to the three elementary schools in Springfield.  Although we only received 237 backpacks, we were able to meet the need of every student who arrived!

Photos from the day are posted on our Facebook page ... http://www.facebook.com/hope4springfield - see your compassion at work!

"The Springfield Rescue Mission always strives to extend a "hand-up" not a "hand-out"! 2 Corinthians 9:7
