What's Happening?

1. Back to School Supply Drive - Reach out to needy inner-city children by collecting and donating NEW backpacks and school supplies. Last year we handed out 518 filled backpacks - let's do it again! NEW supplies needed: backpacks, glue-sticks, calculators, pencils, pens, pencil cases, highlighters, erasers, plastic rulers, markers, crayons, colored pencils, composition notebooks, binders, notebook paper, memo pads, pocket folders, small tissue packs. Donations can be dropped off at the Springfield Rescue Mission, 19 Bliss Street, Springfield, by August 23rd. With your help we can be sure that those truly in need will be receiving the supplies. We are currently working with Springfield School officials to ensure the filled backpacks go to the neediest children according to their recommendation.
2. Help Sort School Supplies: Starting August 19th, we need people to come in weekdays to sort school supplies and fill backpacks. Call (413) 732-0808 ext 114 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to volunteer!
3. Current Need: We find ourselves in need of curtains for our Taylor Street Emergency Shelter. There are four windows measuring 75" long x 3' wide. If you can help us out, please contact Julie at the Mission (413) 732-0808 ext. 114.
