Easter Celebration of Hope

easter_09_014The Springfield Rescue Mission will host an Easter Celebration of Hope including breakfast and dinner at our 19 Bliss Street location as well as meal delivery for the elderly and disabled. We expect to serve over 500 guests during our Easter Celebration on April 7th.

Breakfast will be served at 7AM. Meal Deliveries will go out to elderly, shut-in, and disabled at 2PM. Dinner will be served at 4PM. Volunteers are needed to prepare, serve and deliver meals.

“Hope Begins with a Meal” is our motto at the Rescue Mission and we live that out daily.  Men, women and children come in from the street needing a hot meal and they find so much more.   The Springfield Rescue Mission is a refuge – a place where they find dignity, hope and encouragement.

Operation Hope Tote

Hope_Tote_2008_editedDid you get up this morning and take a nice hot shower with plenty of shaving cream, a razor, shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner? Did you have deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste and powder? Did you even think about not having these basic items?

For the homeless and those living in crisis these are “luxury” items. When you are struggling to put food on the table to feed your children or pay the rent and utilities, some of the basics aren’t in the budget. Hope Tote bags can make a difference by providing basic personal care items. We need personal care items for all ages—adults, as well as, infants and children. So next time you step into the shower or wash your hands, or bathe your baby, think of those less fortunate.

You don't have to leave your home to help. Purchase items using our new GivingSomething Page ...

hope_tote_2008-3"Operation Hope Tote" is our annual Easter outreach. We encourage members of the community to fill one Hope Tote bag for a homeless or poor man, woman or child. Bags are filled with NEW toiletry items: socks, T-shirts & underwear, individually wrapped toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap/body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lip balm, brush/comb, tissues, hand/body lotion, body powder, disposable razors, and shaving cream. We need family size, regular size and sample size/hotel sized items.

We ask that filled Hope Tote bags be returned to the Mission by March 31st. The filled bags are then distributed to those in need via our Operation SONshine community outreach van.

To pick up empty Hope Tote bags or receive further information please call Julie at 413.732.0808 ext. 114 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Warming Communities ... One Coat at a Time

The need has never been greater and it’s never been easier to make a difference in your community. Here is your opportunity to make sure that nobody goes without the basic necessity of a coat this winter.

The Springfield Rescue Mission is collecting clean, gently used coats and jackets as part of their community service project. Coats for men, women and children in all shapes and sizes are welcome. We are dedicated to distributing good quality coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The program is an easy way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets that are no longer needed.

Drop off Locations:

  1. Springfield Rescue Mission, 19 Bliss Street, Springfield, MA, 9AM-4PM, Monday-Friday
