easter_09_014How did your bid convert hope for someone who is hopeless?

Thank you to our generous donors and sponsors!   The 5th annual on-line auction brought in a total of $6200.  There were 708 bids throughout the course of the auction – lots of friendly competition!  We had 195 items up for bid, of which 160 sold.  Although we did not quite make our goal of $7,500, the money we did raise will go to feed and care for the hungry, homeless, addicted and poor in the Greater Springfield area.

If you didn’t win an item online and would like to show your support, place a "winning donation"! It's easier to give, than to give up! You can donate securely through our Springfield Rescue Mission website or call our Donor Relations Office at 413-732-0808.

easter_09_006On Saturday, April 3rd, the Springfield Rescue Mission lifted the hearts of the poor and homeless in Springfield, with hope, a hearty meal and the gift of love this Easter. The Easter meal is an opportunity for the homeless to seek renewal and the Springfield Rescue Mission provides a chance for everyone to participate.

We provided meals to every hungry and homeless person who came through our doors.  The eggs, French toast and bacon made for a warm delicious breakfast – and with the volunteer's smiling faces, we know it made for a very special day. Easter centerpieces were given to our guests and Easter baskets full of goodies were handed out to little ones on the street via our Operation Sonshine van ministry – what a blessing!

"Operation Hope Tote" 2010

Did you get up this morning and take a nice hot shower with plenty of shaving cream, a razor, shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner? Did you have deodorant, a toothbrush and toothpaste and powder? Did you even think about not having these basic items?

For the homeless and those living in crisis these are “luxury” items. When you are struggling to put food on the table to feed your children or pay the rent and utilities, some of the basics aren’t in the budget.

Hope Tote's can make Difference - by providing basic personal care items.  We need personal care items for all ages—adults, as well as, infants and children.  So next time you step into the shower or wash your hands, or bathe your baby, think of those less fortunate.

hope_tote_2008-3"Operation Hope Tote" is our annual Easter campaign. Each January schools, churches, businesses and individuals fill Hope Tote bags with NEW toiletry items: socks, T-shirts & underwear, individually wrapped toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap/body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lip balm, brush/comb, tissues, hand/body lotion, body powder, disposable razors, and shaving cream. We need family size, regular size and sample size/hotel sized items.

Filled Hope Tote bags should be returned to the Mission by March 31st.  The filled bags are then distributed to those in need via our Operation “Son”shine community outreach van.

To pick up empty Hope Tote bags or receive further information please call Julie at 413.732.0808 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
